Customs Rules
Import regulations::
Free import of reasonable quantities of tobacco products and alcoholic beverages for personal use. The import of film cameras is only possible with a licence. No restrictions for perfume.
Export regulations::
Free export of 30 sq.m. of carpets, 10 skins (excl. Karakul), cut and polished precious stone (incl. Lapis Lazuli), handicrafts and a limited variety of antiques. The transport of some species of rare birds is prohibited. The Afghan Tourist Bureau can provide more information and relevant export certificate.
Crew members customs regulations::
Same regulations as for passengers apply.
Pets::
Dogs must be accompanied by a rabies inoculation certificate issued at point of origin. Pets may enter as cargo only.
Baggage Clearance regulations::
Baggage is cleared at the airport of final destination in Afghanistan.
Exempt: baggage of transit passengers with a destination outside of Afghanistan.
Airport Embarkation Tax
No airport tax is levied on passengers upon embarkation at the airport.
Currency rules
Currency Import regulations:
Same regulations as for export apply.
Currency Export regulations:
Local currency (Afghani-AFA): in banknotes or coins up to AFA 50,000.-.
Foreign currencies: up to the amount imported and declared. For amounts over AFA 1,000,000.- and "Ansari Application Form" is required.
