Customs Rules
Import regulations::
Free import by passengers of 18 years and over:
1. 400 cigarettes, 50 cigars and 250g of tobacco, in opened packets;
2. 8oz. of perfume;
3. 1 litre bottle of alcoholic liquor and 6 cans of beer;
4. gifts up to a maximum of BHD 250.- (approx. USD 600.-) on items not subject to customs duty.
Arms and Ammunition regulations::
Import Permit required for arms and ammunition. The transportation of arms, ammunition and all classes of explosives requires prior Permission from the Ministry of the Interior and Civil Aviation Affairs of Bahrain.

Import Permit required for methylated spirits, intoxicating drugs and jewellery.
Luggage and gifts must be for personal use and cannot be used for commercial purposes.
Frequent travelers and air crew regularly operating on flights into Bahrain are not permitted to import goods on a regular basis.
The following items are prohibited in Bahrain are are not permitted to be imported:
- all types of narcotic drugs (heroin, cocaine, hashish, pills having drugs effects, etc.);
- Indian paan and derivatives;
- used and reconditioned tyres;
- cultured pearls;
- advertisement material for all types of cigarettes;
- radio/remote controlled model aircraft;
- children’s toy guns capable of firing projectiles;
- goods of Israeli origin or bearing Israeli trademarks or logos;
- printed publications, photographs, pictures, books, magazines sculptures and mannequins which contradict Islamic teachings, decency, or immorality;
- seditious or treasonable material;
- asbestos or items containing asbestos;
- raw ivory, ivory articles and rhinoceros horn;
- live swine;
- any other items, whose importation is prohibited under Kingdom of Bahrain Customs laws, or any other laws of the country.
Crew members customs regulations::
are permitted to import:
1. 400 cigarettes and 50 cigars;

Pets::
Birds: an import permit must be obtained from the Veterinary Quarantine in Bahrain before shipping the birds. Import permit is also required for transit.
Cats and dogs: import of dogs and cats (from all countries) is allowed. Import permit from Veterinary Quarantine in Bahrain is required. Pet must also be accompanied by a Health Certificate stating clearly that the animal is free from any disease and is fully vaccinated.
Pets may enter as passenger's checked baggage or as cargo. It is also permitted for small pets such as birds, cats and dogs to be carried in the cabin provided that they are carried in suitable cages, however, for larger dogs airlines are required to obtain prior permission from the civil aviation manager, airport operations.
Prohibited: any wild animals without an Import Permit from Veterinary Quarantine in Bahrain.

Baggage Clearance regulations::
Baggage is cleared at the airport of Bahrain.
Exempt: baggage of transit passengers with a destination outside Bahrain, provided it is labeled to that destination.
Airport Embarkation Tax
No airport tax is levied on passengers upon embarkation at the airport.
Currency rules
Currency Import regulations:
Local currency (Bahrain Dinar-BHD) and foreign currencies: no restrictions .
Passengers arriving/departing Bahrain can be requested by the Customs or Security Authorities to disclose the value of any local or foreign currencies, gold or other negotiable instruments that are in their possession.
