Customs Rules

Import regulations::

Free import to passengers arriving with goods purchased within the EU  (for personal use only):
1. 800 cigarettes, 400 cigarillos (max. 3g each), 200 cigars and 1kg of smoking tobacco;
2. 10 lts of spirits over 22% and ethyl alcohol, 20 lts of alcoholic beverages less than 22%, 90 lts of wine (though no more than 60 lts of sparkling wine) and 110 lts of beer.

Free import to passengers arriving from non-EU Member States (incl. Canary Islands, Channel Islands and other similar territories):
1. tobacco products, for passengers aged 17 and older:
   - 200 cigarettes; or
   - 100 cigarillos (max. 3g each); or
   - 50 cigars; or
   - 250g of smoking tobacco; or
   - a proportional mix of these products;
2. alcoholic beverages, for passengers aged 17 and older:
   - 1 litre of spirits over 22% volume, or non-denatured ethyl alcohol with more than 80% volume; or
   - 2 litres of spirits or aperitifs made of wine or similar beverages less than 22% volume, or sparkling wines or liqueur wines; or
   - a proportional mix of these products; and in addition
   - 4 litres still wine; and
   - 16 litres of beer;
3. food, fruits, medications and flowers for personal use;
4. other goods (for air travellers) up to a total value of EUR 430.- (per adult) or EUR 150.- (per passenger aged under 15 years).

Products of animal origin, not originating from an EU Member State , Andorra, Liechtenstein, Norway, San Marino or Switzerland, are not permitted to be imported into an EU Member State, with the exception of limited amounts from Andorra, Croatia, the Faeroe Isl., Greenland, Iceland and small amounts of specific products from other countries.

Arms and Ammunition regulations::

Import of sporting guns: special licence and gun licence, both obtained prior to arrival.

Additional Information on regulations::

For export of some goods it is necessary to present to customs officers documents, which are needful for export allowance. For further information apply to consulate.

It is advisable on arrival in Prague to declare or to present a list of all personal articles of value (especially photo cameras, film cameras, sleeping-bags, sporting articles and tents) to the customs officer, who will confirm that the articles or personal effects concerned have indeed been imported.

Export regulations::

No restrictions. However, export of cultural heritage pieces is possible only with prior approval by the Czech Ministry of Culture.

Crew members customs regulations::

If travelling between a non-EU Member State and EU Member State  free import of goods up to a value of EUR 22.- per trip. If travelling within the EU, the same limits apply as for passengers importing non tax-free goods. 

Pets::

Cats and dogs are subject to Regulation (EC) No. 998/2003 . However, echinococcus and ticks treatment are not required. Entry may be refused in case the animal is not in good health or in case of an unfavourable epizootological situation in the country of origin.
Birds are subject to Decision (EC) No. 25/2007.

Baggage Clearance regulations::

Baggage is cleared at the first airport of entry in the Czech Rep.

Exempt: when continuing onwards to Ostrava (OSR) where baggage can also be cleared.



Airport Embarkation Tax

No airport tax is levied on passengers upon embarkation at the airport.



Currency rules

Currency Import regulations:

and Export: local currency (CZECH CROWN-CZK) and foreign currencies: no restrictions if arriving from or traveling to another EU Member State .
If arriving directly from or traveling to a country outside the EU: amounts exceeding EUR 10,000.- or more or the equivalent in another currency (incl. banker's draft and cheques of any kind) must be declared.
