Customs Rules

Import regulations::

IMPORT: free import (only for persons of 17 years and over):
- 250 cigarettes or 250 grams of cigars or a combination of tobacco products not exceeding 250 grams net weight;
- 2,25 litres of liquor or 4,5 litres of wine or 4,5 litres of beer, or any combination that does not exceed the prescribed limit for any one item;
- 4 oz. of perfume for personal use;
- other dutiable goods (other than alcohol & tobacco products) not exceeding the value of FJD 400.- per passenger, irrespective of age.
Prohibited:
- firearms and ammunition;
- meat and dairy products from Tasmania.

Additional Information on regulations::

Vegetable matter, seeds or any animal product require an import permit from Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forests. Pilgrims returning to Fiji with holy water should comply with the following requirements. The water must be: limited to one pint; and - carried in hermetically sealed containers from the country of origin; and - certified by a competent authority to be sterile and free from cholera, typhoid, and paratyphoid germs. The water is impounded for 21 days at Nadi airport if this certificate is not available.

Crew members customs regulations::

Same regulations as for passengers.

Pets::

All animals are PROHIBITED ENTRY by air into Fiji except dogs and cats imported from New Zealand and certain Australian States, namely New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia, provided: the animals are shipped in a "nose and paw proof" container; an import permit has been obtained from the Director of Animal Health and Production in Suva prior to departure and the health requirements specified therein are complied with. The pets must be transported by air from Nandi to Suva to be quarantined at Vatuwaqa (length depends on country of origin) Dogs and cats MAY TRANSIT by air provided: - by same or first connecting aircraft; - shipped in a nose and paw proof container; - they remain in the container during transit time; - a transit permit has been obtained from the Dept. of Agriculture in Suva.

Baggage Clearance regulations::

Baggage is cleared at the first airport of entry in Fiji. On average the clearance takes 30 to 45 minutes. In the case of unaccompanied baggage, a Declaration Form is to be filled in and signed by the bona fide passenger.

Exempt: baggage of transit passengers with a destination outside of Fiji, provided the onward flight is within 3 hours and the baggage is labelled to the final destination.



Airport Embarkation Tax

No airport tax is levied on passengers upon embarkation at the airport.



Currency rules

Currency Import regulations:

Local currency (Fiji Dollar-FJD) and foreign currencies: no restrictions, provided amounts over FJD 10,000.- in cash or negotiable bearer instruments are declared.

Currency Export regulations:

Total amount of currency up to an max. of FJD 5,000.- (or equivalent), of which local currency (Fiji Dollar-FJD) up to a max. of FJD 500.-. Amounts above FJD 10,000.- (or equivalent in foreign currency) in cash or negotiable bearer instruments must be declared.
