Customs Rules

Import regulations::

Free import
1. a reasonable quantity of cigarettes;
2. a reasonable quantity of perfume for personal use;
3. gifts of which the applicable import duty/tax does not exceed USD 80.-.

Wild Fauna and Flora::

Prohibited: Import of berries, fruit, plants and their parts, seedlings or vegetables, bulbs, rhizomes, roots, seeds or tubers, soil, living (or collections of) bacteria, fungi, insects, nematodes or viruses, live birds, animals and their products.

Additional Information on regulations::

Holding alcoholic beverages and old books or magazines is prohibited.

Export regulations::

Free export of reasonable quantities of cigarettes or of other items up to a reasonable value.

Crew members customs regulations::

Same regulations as for passengers apply.

Pets::

Import of dogs and cats in cabin or as checked baggage is not allowed, except passengers with disabilities who are allowed to travel with assistance dogs.

Baggage Clearance regulations::

Baggage is cleared at the first airport of entry in Iran. No transit facilities exist in Iran.



Airport Embarkation Tax

Exit Tax: of IRR 750,000.- is levied on nationals of Iran, residing in Iran.
Place of payment: at any Meli Bank.



Currency rules

Currency Import regulations:

Import of local currency (Iran Rial-IRR) up to IRR 500,000.- allowed. Amounts exceeding IRR 500,000.- must be deposited at Bank Melli or Bank Sepah at the airport. Import of foreign currencies: up to USD 10,000.- or equivalent. Amounts exceeding USD 10,000.- must be declared on arrival. Also in case of sale or transfer to other passengers (provided holding a passport).

Currency Export regulations:

Export of local currency (Iran Rial-IRR) up to IRR 500,000.- is allowed for residents. Larger amounts only after authorization from the Central Bank. Foreign currencies is allowed up to EUR/USD 10,000.- for residents. Export of local currency up to IRR 500,000.- is allowed for non-residents. Larger amounts up to the amount shown on and after presentation of the deposit receipt obtained on arrival. Foreign currencies may be exported by non-residents up to the amount declared on arrival or obtained via Bank Melli. Bank receipt and Bank stamp in passport must be shown on departure to prove the balance of the amount declared on arrival.
