Customs Rules

Import regulations::

Free import of:
Tobacco and tobacco products:
-passengers arriving from Mauritius: 200 cigarettes or cigarillos or 50 cigars or 400 grams of tobacco;
-other passengers: see "France".
Other articles: see "France".
Prohibited: all plants and plant products and parts thereof.

Pets::

DOGS AND CATS:
Puppies and kittens must be at least 15 weeks old at the time of travel. If coming from Metropolitan France or French Overseas departments and territories (except for French Guiana), they must be at least 8 weeks old.
Tattoo or microchip implant is required. In addition:
1. If coming from EU countries (except for France) : The animal must be accompanied by an animal passport, and must be vaccinated against rabies at least 21 days prior to arrival.
2. If coming from a third country: Vaccination against rabies and a neutralizing antibody titration performed at least 30 days after the rabies vaccination is required. The animal must be accompanied by an original sanitary certificate (confirming that vaccination and titration have been performed), issued by a veterinarian.
Prohibited:
- all types of "Pitbull" dogs (e.g. Staffordshire terrier, American Staffordshire terrier), Mastiff, Tosa will be sent back to country of departure. Ask air carrier if they will transport your breed (e.g.Air France will not transport above breeds). Rottweilers may now be transported loaded into a rigid plastic container conforming to Air France rules.

BIRDS:
- must be accompanied by a certificate of good health issued 5 days before transportation;
- are only accepted if vaccinated against "the Newcastle disease". (Important: Once a bird has entered Reunion, it is impossible to export the bird from Reunion).

No airport tax is levied on passengers upon embarkation at the airport.
