Customs Rules

Import regulations::

Free import of:
1. 200 cigarettes and 20 cigars and 250 grams of tobacco;
2. 2 liters of wine and 1 litre of spirits or other alcoholic beverages;
3. 50 milliliter of perfume and 250 milliliter of toilet water;
4. personal effects up to a maximum of SZL 1,000.-;
5. other goods up to a maximum of SZL 5,000.-.
If goods are re-imported passenger must show the DA65 or NEP-form that was used upon departure.

Arms and Ammunition regulations::

For import of firearms or ammunition an import permit must be obtained from the Firearms Licensing Board.
Application must be made well in advance.

Wild Fauna and Flora::

The import of certain endangered species of plant, live animals and their products is prohibited or restricted under CITES.

Additional Information on regulations::

1. Married couples, traveling together, are allowed free import for one person only.
2. Passengers must declare all goods with serial numbers by means of form DA65. On the day of departure the DA65 form has to be endorsed by the Customs Officer on duty at International Departures.
3. All valuable goods without serial numbers must be declared by means of a NEP-form, which can be obtained, completed and stamped at any commercial bank. On the day of departure the NEP-form has to be endorsed by the Customs Officer on duty at International Departures.
If residents are not in possession of the DA65 or NEP-form upon return, the goods may be detained for proof of local purchase. If the passenger fails to comply with the export regulations, duties may be levied.

Export regulations::

Free export of souvenirs and presents.

Baggage Clearance regulations::

Baggage is cleared at the airport of Manzini, Matsapha International Airport, which is the only airport of Swaziland.

Exempt: baggage of transit passengers with a destination outside of Swaziland if the onward flight is on the same calendar day and passengers do not leave the airport.



Airport Embarkation Tax

A Passenger Service Charge is levied on passengers embarking on international flights: SZL 20.-.
Place of payment: Matsapha airport.
Exempt:
1. Passengers in direct transit.
2. Children under 3 years of age.
3. Crew traveling on duty.



Currency rules

Currency Import regulations:

Allowed. Local currency (Swazi Lilangeni; plural Emalangeni-SZL) and foreign currencies: no restrictions but amounts exceeding SZL 15,000.- must be declared on arrival.

Currency Export regulations:

Allowed. Local currency (Swazi Lilangeni; plural Emalangeni-SZL) and foreign currencies: up to the amounts imported and declared.
