Customs Rules

Import regulations::

Free import, irrespective of age of passenger:
- 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 500 grams of tobacco;
- 1 liter of alcohol with more than 25% volume or 2 litres of alcohol with less than 25% volume;
- 1 liter of toilet water or 250 milliliters of perfume;
- gifts up to a total value of approx. USD 25,- or equivalent.

Arms and Ammunition regulations::

Prohibited, except hunting weapons with a special permission.

Wild Fauna and Flora::

The import of certain endangered species of plant, live animals and their products is prohibited or restricted under CITES.

Additional Information on regulations::

Valuable articles should be declared upon arrival to ensure re-export.

Export regulations::

Free export:
- 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 400 grams of tobacco;
- a reasonable quantity of alcoholic beverages and perfume.

Pets::

Required: certificate of health from veterinary authorities in the country of departure stating that no contagious diseases of animals occurred at place of origin for 6 weeks before shipment.
Cats and dogs: in addition to above, a rabies vaccination certificate issued between 1 and 6 months prior to arrival is required.
Prohibited:
- the breeds boerboel, pitbull, rottweiler and tosa; and
- falcons.

Baggage Clearance regulations::

Baggage is cleared at the first airport of entry in Tunisia.

Exempt: passengers in transit at Tunis (TUN) to a destination outside of Tunisia, holding onward tickets.



Airport Embarkation Tax

Exit Tax (Solidarity Tax) is levied on passengers leaving Tunisia on international flights: TND 30.-.
Also applicable to crew members.
Place of payment: Tax marks can be obtained via ports/airports/local revenue office/banking/exchange offices in Tunisia.
Exempt:
1. Nationals of Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunsia;
2. Members of diplomatic missions accredited to Tunisia.



Currency rules

Currency Import regulations:

Local currency (Tunisian Dinar (TND): prohibited.
Foreign currencies: no restrictions. Amounts exceeding TND 25,000.- or equivalent must be declared. However, if the foreign currency will also be exported, passenger has to declare amounts exceeding TND 5,000.- or equivalent.

Currency Export regulations:

Local currency (Tunisian Dinar-TND): prohibited. Up to a max. of TND 3,000.- can be re-exchanged into foreign currencies. Passenger must hold the bank exchange receipt.
Foreign currencies: up to the imported amounts. If exceeding the equivalent of TND 5,000.- export is only allowed when it has been declared on arrival.
