Customs Rules

Import regulations::

Prohibited: the import of poultry and related products.

Free import by persons 18 years of age and over:
- 200 cigarettes or 450 grammes of tobacco;
- 1 opened bottle of alcoholic beverages.

Export regulations::

Free export by persons 18 years of age and over:
- 200 cigarettes or 450 grammes of tobacco;
- 1 opened bottle of alcoholic beverages;
- 1 piece of ivory jewellery only.

Pets::

Dogs and cats must be accompanied by a veterinarian health certificate issued at the point of origin and an import permit to be obtained in advance by writing to the Director, Veterinary and Tsetse Control Department, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, Mulungushi House, P.O. Box 50060, Lusaka, Zambia. Dogs also require an additional rabies inoculation certificate. Prohibited: import of poultry and related products.

Baggage Clearance regulations::

Baggage is cleared at the first airport of entry in Zambia.

Exempt: baggage of transit passengers with a destination outside of Zambia, provided the passengers do not leave the transit area.



Airport Embarkation Tax

No airport tax is levied on passengers upon embarkation at the airport.



Currency rules

Currency Import regulations:

Local currency (Zambia Kwacha-ZMW) and foreign currencies: amounts exceeding USD 5000.- or equivalent must be declared.

Currency Export regulations:

Local currency (Zambia Kwacha-ZMW) and foreign currencies: amounts exceeding USD 5000.- or equivalent must be declared.
