Customs Rules

Import regulations::

Free import by passengers of 18 years of age and older:
- 400 cigarettes (2 cartons), 50 cigars or 500 grammes of tobacco;
- 3 litres of alcoholic beverages;
The following used items or equipment for personal use: 1 photographic camera, 1 non-professional camcorder and accessories, 1 personal portable computer, 1 tape recorder, 1 electronic memo book, 1 cellular phone and 1 sporting gear; new articles up to a value of USD 1000.- per person.

Arms and Ammunition regulations::

A Permit, granted by the Bolivian Ministry of Defense, is required to import firearms and/or ammunition. This must be obtained prior to arrival in Bolivia. Visitors must apply for this through the Bolivian Embassy or Consulate in their country of residence.

Export regulations::

Free export of reasonable quantities of tobacco products and alcoholic beverages.

Pets::

Birds, cats and dogs must be accompanied by a good health certificate issued by a government official authority at point of origin.

Baggage Clearance regulations::

Baggage is cleared at the airport of final destination in Bolivia, provided the carrier is operating under the same flight number.
Exempt: baggage of transit passengers with a destination outside Bolivia, which is transferred by the carrier, provided it is labeled to that destination.



Airport Embarkation Tax

1. Airport tax: for passengers embarking in Bolivia for:
a. Domestic flights: BOB 14.-.
b. International flights: USD 24.-. (Flights to the city of Ilo in Peru, are considered domestic flight).
c. Nationals of Bolivia and alien residents holding a "C├ędula de Extranjero" (Alien Registration Card) can pay the equivalent amount of USD 24.- in BOB at the official exchange rate.
Place of payment: Airport of departure in Bolivia.
Exempt:
1.Passengers transiting Bolivia within 8 hours.
2. Children under 2 years of age.
2. Exit tax: for nationals and alien residents of Bolivia and for visitors staying more than 90 days: BOB 190.-.
Place of payment: Airport of departure in Bolivia.
Exempt: children under 2 years of age.



Currency rules

Currency Import regulations:

Local currency (Bolivian Boliviano-BOB) and foreign currencies: no restrictions.

Currency Export regulations:

Local currency (Bolivian Boliviano-BOB) and foreign currencies: up to the amounts imported and declared.
