Olympic Visas for China18 April 2008
The People's Rep. of China is organizing the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
In accordance with the Olympic Charter and the Host City Contract, the Olympic Identity and Accreditation Card (OIAC), together with a valid passport of the holders, will be accepted as the multiple entry visa to China for the
duration of one month before and one month after the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Similarly, the Paralympic Identity and Accreditation Card (PIAC) will function as the multiple entry visa to China for the duration of one month before and one month after the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.
The new legislation has special provision regarding the form in which visas are issued, only for the members of the Olympic Family and Paralympic Family.
Therefore, members of the Olympic Family and Paralympic Family who are of non-Chinese nationalities, do not need to place their visa application requests in person at the Consular Services and the visa will not be issued in the form of the sticker on their passport, but will be formalised by a specific marking and included in the OIAC and PIAC. More specifically, the visa for the Members of the Olympic Family and Paralympic Family shall take the form of two numbers being entered on the OIAC and PIAC.
All other travelers, whether for business or tourism, require a visa to be obtained from a consulate in advance. Single and double entry visas are valid for 90 days of which 30 days may be spent in China.
