Import regulations:

Free import of reasonable quantities of tobacco products and alcoholic beverages for personal use. Import of film cameras is only possible with a license. No restrictions for perfume.

Wild Fauna and Flora:

The import of certain endangered species of plant, live animals and their products is prohibited or restricted under CITES.

Export regulations:

Free export cut and polished precious stone (incl. Lapis Lazuli), handicrafts and a limited variety of antiques. The Afghan Tourist Bureau can provide more information and relevant export certificate.

Crew members customs regulations:

Same regulations as for passengers apply.


Dogs must be accompanied by a rabies inoculation certificate issued at point of origin. Pets may enter as cargo only.

Baggage Clearance regulations:

Baggage is cleared at the airport of final destination in Afghanistan.
Exempt: baggage of transit passengers with a destination outside of Afghanistan.


Currency Import regulations:

Same regulations as for export apply.

Currency Export regulations:

Local currency (Afghani-AFN): in banknotes or coins up to AFN 50,000.-.
Foreign currencies: up to the amount imported and declared. For amounts over AFN 1,000,000.- and "Ansari Application Form" is required.

Airport Tax

No airport tax is levied on passengers upon embarkation at the airport.
