Import regulations:

For tourists over 15 years of age free import of:
1. 200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos or 25 cigars or 250 grams of tobacco;
2. 1 bottle of wine and 1 bottle of spirits;
3. 1/2 liter of eau de toilette and 1/4 liter of perfume.

Wild Fauna and Flora:

The import of certain endangered species of plant, live animals and their products is prohibited or restricted under CITES.

Additional Information on regulations:

Visitors must obtain approval from the Ministere de l'Administration for the use of photo-, film- or video cameras.


Pets: dogs and cats must be accompanied by veterinary certificate, including:
1. confirmation of rabies vaccination given not less than 3 weeks and not more than 6 months prior to arrival;
2. statement that no case of rabies has occurred in area of origin for 60 days prior to shipment.

Baggage Clearance regulations:

Baggage is cleared at the airport of final destination in Burkina Faso, if this is an international airport.
Exempt: baggage of transit passengers with a destination outside of Burkina Faso.


Currency Import regulations:

Local currency (CFA Franc-XOF) and foreign currencies: no restrictions if declared on arrival.

Currency Export regulations:

Residents: Local currency (CFA Franc-XOF) and foreign currencies: up to XOF 175,000.- or equivalent.
Non-Residents: Local currency and foreign currencies: up to the amount imported and declared.

Airport Tax

No airport tax is levied on passengers upon embarkation at the airport.
