Customs

Import regulations:

Free import of tobacco only for persons of 18 years of age or older:
1. 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 100 cigarillos or 250 grams of tobacco;
2. 1 liter alcohol of more than 38.8% proof (22% Gay-Lussac) or 2 liters of maximum 38.8% proof (22% Gay-Lussac) or 2 liters sparkling wine or still table wine, and 10 liters of beer.

Arms and Ammunition regulations:

An import license is required from the Falkland Islands' Policy Authority. Weapons taken from passengers prior to embarkation for safe stowage in the aircraft must be returned to the passenger by a responsible officer of the airline or handling agent in the presence of a customs officer. Small arms ammunition must be packaged separately from firearms.

Wild Fauna and Flora:

An import permit must be obtained from the Falkland Islands' Department of Agriculture, as well as a phytosanitary certificate issued by the relevant authority in the country of origin (not required for seeds). All imports must be soil free.

Additional Information on regulations:

Meat, Poultry and Dairy Produce: An import license is required from the Falkland Islands' Department of Agriculture, as well veterinary/sanitary certificate issued by the relevant authority in the country of origin.
Prohibited: Pornographic or obscene material, counterfeit goods and narcotic substances.

Crew members customs regulations:

Same regulations as for passengers apply.

Pets:

(including other animals, birds, and eggs for hatching) An import license is required from the Falkland Islands' Agricultural Authority, as well as health certification issued by the relevant authority in the country of origin. Animals must be carried in a nose and paw-proof crate or container as manifested cargo covered by an Air Waybill. Prior advice by fax to the Department of Agriculture is mandatory prior to shipment. Note: certain types of live animals, birds and eggs are prohibited. Untreated animal hides, skins and derivatives: must be accompanied by an import license from the Falkland Islands' Agriculture Authority and a veterinary certificate issued by the relevant authority in the country of origin.


Currency

Currency Import regulations:

No restrictions on local currency (Falkland Islands Pounds-FKP), Great Britain Pounds (Pound Sterling-GBP) and foreign currencies. Exchange facilities are available for Australian Dollars, Canadian Dollars, New Zealand Dollars, United States Dollars and Euro's.

Currency Export regulations:

No restrictions on local currency (Falkland Islands Pounds-FKP), Great Britain Pounds (Pound Sterling-GBP) and foreign currencies.


Airport Tax

Embarkation Tax of GBP 22.- or the equivalent in FKB, USD and EUR is levied on each person leaving the Falkland Isl. (Malvinas).
Place of payment: Airport of departure.
Exempt:
1.Children under 2 years.
2.Crew members.
