Import regulations:

Free import by persons of 18 years of age and over:
1. 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 1 kilogram of tobacco;
2. 1 liter of spirits;
3. small quantity of perfume, lotion, eau de cologne for personal use;
4. new goods for personal use up to a value of HTG 2,500.- (once a year);
5. Gift articles: no allowance.
Prohibited: firearms (except sporting guns which require a permit from a consul of Haiti).

For passengers traveling with guns: before departure, a notification must be sent by the carrier to the Haitian Airport Security/Safety Authorities.

Additional Information on regulations:

Prohibited: audio or video pornographic items or related items, except for educational purposes.

Export regulations:

Free export, no restrictions on either alcoholic beverages (if quantity is not excessive) nor on tobacco products.


Birds, cats and dogs require a veterinary health certificate issued not more than 7 days before arrival. Moreover, dogs aged more than 3 months old require additional rabies vaccination certificate issued not less than 21 days and not more than 11 months before arrival. Prohibited: Macaws and parrots.

Baggage Clearance regulations:

Baggage is cleared at the international airports of Haiti.


Local currency (Haitian Gourde-HTG) and foreign currencies: amounts over HTG 400,000.- or equivalent must be declared to the customs authorities.
