Customs

Import regulations:

Free import of:
- 200 cigarettes and 20 cigars and 250 grams of tobacco;
- 2 liters of wine and 1 liter of alcoholic beverages (irrespective of age). No liquor may be imported by nationals of South Africa;
- 250 milliliters of eau de toilette and 50 milliliters of perfume;
- other gift articles up to a value of LSL 5,000.-.

Arms and Ammunition regulations:

Import is prohibited.

Wild Fauna and Flora:

The import of certain endangered species of plant, live animals and their products is prohibited or restricted under CITES.
Import permits can be obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture.

Additional Information on regulations:

1. Passenger must declare all goods above LSL 5,000.- in value by means of a form SAD500. On the day of departure the SAD500 form has to be endorsed by the Customs Officer on duty at International Departures. All valuable goods without serial numbers must be declared by means of a NEP-form, which can be obtained, completed and stamped at any commercial bank. On the day of departure, the NEP-form has to be endorsed by the Customs Officer on duty at International Departures.
2. If goods are re-imported passenger must show the SAD500 or NEP-form that was issued on departure.

Export regulations:

Free export of souvenirs and presents up to a value of LSL 5,000.-.
A formal declaration is required if exceeding this amount.

Pets:

Cats and dogs must be accompanied by a veterinarian good health and rabies inoculation certificates issued at point of origin.

Baggage Clearance regulations:

Baggage is cleared at the airport of final destination in Lesotho.

Exempt: baggage of transit passengers with a destination outside of Lesotho.

Local currency (Lesotho Loti-LSL) and foreign currencies: no restrictions.

Currency Export regulations:

Local currency (Lesotho Loti-LSL) and foreign currencies: no restrictions.


Airport Tax

No airport tax is levied on passengers upon embarkation at the airport.
