Customs

Import regulations:

Free import of:
- 3 cartons of cigarettes or 1 lb (approx. 1 pound) of loose tobacco;
- 1,5 US gallon of alcohol (only for persons of 21 years of age and older). No free import of any beer and other malt beverages;
- a reasonable quantity of perfume;
- personal effects.

Arms and Ammunition regulations:

License required from the Attorney General of the Northern Mariana Isl.

Wild Fauna and Flora:

The import of certain endangered species of plant, live animals and their products is prohibited or restricted under CITES.

Additional Information on regulations:

For fresh fruits a phytosanitary certificate is warranted.
Prohibited: mangoes from the Philippines, meat (except from Continental USA, Hawaii, Guam, Canada, Australia and New Zealand), pre-cooked and dried noodles with powdered meat.

Crew members customs regulations:

Free import of:
- 300 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 2 kilograms of smoking tobacco or a proportionate amount of each;
- one open liter of alcoholic beverage;
- gifts up to a maximum of $200.- in value, which may include gifts the crew member has purchased for persons in the United States.

Pets:

Required:
- Plant and Animal Quarantine Permit issued by the Chief of Agriculture of the Northern Mariana Isl.; and
- Entry Permit.

Cats and dogs other than those arriving directly from Hawaii, Guam and Australia will be held in quarantine facilities in Saipan for 120 days, unless this has been done in Hawaii or in Guam which must be stated in the document below.
A Northern Mariana Isl. health certificate endorsed by the Northern Mariana Isl. Vet is required and a health certificate issued, no more than 2 weeks prior to arrival, by an authorized or licensed veterinarian in the country of origin, showing that the animal:
- originated in the exporting country;
- has been vaccinated with a killed (inactivated) rabies virus vaccine or a modified live virus vaccine more than 30 days and less than 90 days prior to entry;
- has been dipped or treated to free that animals of external parasites within 5 days of entry;
- is free from any signs of infectious or communicable disease.
A Northern Mariana Isl. Health Certificate endorsed by the Northern Mariana Isl. Vet is also required.

Pets may enter as passenger's checked baggage, in the cabin or as cargo.
Prohibited: psittacine birds (parrots, parakeets, macaws etc.).

Baggage Clearance regulations:

Baggage is cleared at the first airport of entry in the Northern Mariana Isl. On average, clearance takes one hour.

Exempt: baggage of transit passengers arriving from Guam with a destination outside of the Northern Mariana Isl. if the onward flight is on the same calendar day.


Currency

Currency Import regulations:

Local currency (US Dollar-USD) and foreign currencies: if the amount exceeds USD 10,000.- it must be declared.

Currency Export regulations:

Local currency (US Dollar-USD) and foreign currencies: if the amount exceeds USD 10,000.- it must be declared.


Airport Tax

No airport tax is levied on passengers upon embarkation at the airport.
