Import regulations:

Free import only by passengers over 18 years of age:
1. 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 227 grams of tobacco;
2. 3.5 liters of spirits or 3.5 liters of liquor; or 3 liters of wine or 8 liters of beer in cans (beer in glass bottles are prohibited) or a combination of each if the total does not exceed 3.5 liters;
3. other dutiable goods up to NZD 500.-.

Arms and Ammunition regulations:

Prohibited: all firearms, cartridges, cartridge cases, gunpowder, bullets, shot or any other ammunition.

Export regulations:

Phytosanitary certificate from the Quarantine Office at Hanan Airport is required for food, animal and plant products.

No pets are admitted.

Baggage Clearance regulations:

Baggage is cleared at the first airport of entry in Niue.

Exempt: baggage of transit passengers with a destination outside of Niue if no change of flight is involved.


Currency Import regulations:

Local currency (New Zealand Dollar-NZD): unlimited. The importation of other New Zealand money (including postal notes, money orders, cheques and promissory notes, but excluding traveler's cheques) requires the consent of the Reserve Bank. Foreign currencies: unlimited but any amounts should be renegotiated through banking channels for re-export purposes.

Currency Export regulations:

Local currency (New Zealand Dollar-NZD): up to NZD 100.-, foreign currencies: up to the amounts imported and declared. For export of foreign currencies an authorization from a bank is required. All exported currency should be declared upon departure.

Airport Tax

Airport Departure Tax is levied on all passengers leaving Niue: NZD 34.-.
Place of payment: Airport of departure.
1. Transit passengers continuing their journey within 24 hours.
2. Children up to/including 12 years of age.
3. Crew traveling on duty.
4. Holders of diplomatic passports.
