Customs

Import regulations:

Free import by passengers of 18 years of age and older:
- max. 250 grams of tobacco products;
- 1 liter of spirits (incl. liquors) and 2 litres of wine;
- max. 0,5 liter of perfume and/or eau de toilette, of which not more than 0,25 liter may be perfume;
- personal effects;
- other goods up to a max. of USD 500.- or equivalent.

Arms and Ammunition regulations:

Passengers can import firearms and ammunition if holding a permit issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Rwanda. They must be transported as check-in luggage and be declared to the Special Airports Police Unit (SAPU) on arrival.

Export regulations:

Game trophy can only be exported with a special permit from the Game Department.

Pets:

Dogs and cats must be accompanied by a veterinarian health certificate issued at the point of origin. Dogs: vaccination Flury LEP (against rabies) and cats: vaccination Flury HEP. Pets may enter as passenger's checked baggage, in the cabin or as cargo.

Baggage Clearance regulations:

Baggage is cleared at the first airport of entry in Rwanda.

Exempt: baggage of transit passengers with a destination outside of Rwanda.


Currency

Currency Import regulations:

Allowed. Local currency (Rwandan Franc-RWF): up to RWF 5,000.-; foreign currencies: unlimited, when declared.

Currency Export regulations:

Allowed. Local currency (Rwandan Franc-RWF): up to RWF 5,000.-; foreign currencies: up to the amounts imported and declared.


Airport Tax

No airport tax is levied on passengers upon embarkation at the airport.
