Import regulations:

Free import only by persons of 18 years and over:
- 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 250 grams of tobacco;
- 2 liters of spirits or equivalent in other alcoholic beverage;
- Other goods (incl. gifts) up to the maximum of SBD 3,000.-. (SBD 1,500.- for persons under 18 years of age).

Arms and Ammunition regulations:

- Firearms and ammunition unless a police permit has been obtained.
- Offensive weapons, pictures and literature.

Wild Fauna and Flora:

The import of certain endangered species of plant, live animals and their products is prohibited or restricted under CITES.

Fruits and vegetable import require import permit obtainable from: Director of quarantine, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, P.O. Box G13, Honiara, Solomon Isl.

Dogs and cats can only be imported from Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Baggage Clearance regulations:

Baggage is cleared at the first airport of entry in the Solomon Isl.

Exempt: baggage of transit passengers with a destination outside of the Solomon Isl. if the onward flight is within 24 hours.


Currency Import regulations:

Local currency (Solomon Isl. Dollar-SBD) and foreign currencies: amounts exceeding SBD 50,000.- or equivalent must be declared.

Currency Export regulations:

Local currency and foreign currencies: up to the amounts imported and declared.

Airport Tax

Airport Tax is levied on passengers leaving the Solomon Isl.: SBD 40.-.
Place of payment: Airport of departure.
1. Children under 2 years of age.
2. Transit passengers who do not leave the customs/immigration area at the airport.
3. Aircrew traveling on duty.
4. Holders of diplomatic passports accredited to the Solomon Isl.
