Import regulations:

free import
- 25 cigars and 200 cigarettes;
- 2 liters of alcoholic beverages;
- 4 small bottles of perfume;
- for international passengers: new goods up to a value of USD 1,000.-.
Prohibited: flowers, fruits, meat and meat products, live plants and until further notice, birds, bird products or bird by-products from Chile.

Arms and Ammunition regulations:

Import license and permit issued by the Ministry of Defense are required.

Wild Fauna and Flora:

The import of certain endangered species of plant, live animals and their products is prohibited or restricted under CITES.

Dogs and cats
require certificates of good health and rabies vaccination. Dogs also require proof of vaccination against canine distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis and parvovirosis. Certificates must be issued no less than 15 days prior to arrival and sealed by an approved government veterinarian. It is recommended to obtain an export permit from the Ministry of Agriculture's office at the airport of embarkation, where available.
Birds require a good health certificate issued and sealed by an approved government veterinarian.

An export certificate must be obtained when exporting pets from Venezuela. The certificate is issued by the Instituto Nacional de Salud Agricola Integral (INSAI), and takes a minimum of 8 business days to process. Please contact the Animal Service Office - SASA (Servicio Autonomo de Sanidad Agropecuaria) for further information.

Baggage Clearance regulations:

Baggage is cleared at the first airport of entry in Venezuela.

Exempt: baggage of transit passengers with a destination outside of Venezuela if it is labeled to that destination.


Currency Import regulations:

Local currency (Bolivar Soberano-VES) and foreign currencies: no restrictions

Currency Export regulations:

Local currency (Bolivar Soberano-VES) and foreign currencies: no restrictions

Airport Tax

No airport tax is levied on passengers upon embarkation at Caracas (CCS). Airport/exit tax paid upon departure may apply at other airports, depending on airline.
