Import regulations:

Free import by persons over 21 years of age:
- 200 cigarettes or 250 grams of cigars/cheroots/cigarillos or 250 grams of other tobacco;
- 2,25 liters of alcohol;
- other goods up to a maximum value of WST 500.-;
- personal effects.

Arms and Ammunition regulations:

A permit from the Ministry of Police is required. This also applies to fireworks and related goods.

Wild Fauna and Flora:

The import of certain endangered species of plant, live animals and their products is prohibited or restricted under CITES.

Goods listed under CITES must be accompanied by a permit issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.


Animals must be accompanied by permit from the Department of Agriculture Apia, Samoa and veterinarian's certificate of health before departure to Samoa.

Baggage Clearance regulations:

Baggage is cleared at the first airport of entry in Samoa.


Currency Import regulations:

Local currency (Samoan Tala-WST) and foreign currencies: no restrictions. However, amounts exceeding WST 20,000.- or equivalent in foreign currencies must be declared on arrival.

Currency Export regulations:

Foreign currencies: up to the amounts imported and declared on arrival. Prohibited: local currency (Samoan Tala-WST).

Airport Tax

No airport tax is levied on passengers upon embarkation at the airport.
